DGL with Aloe Vera by NOW Foods is a high quality supplement containing licorice root extract. Licorice (Glycyrrhizaglabra) is a type of perennial from the fabaceae family. It occurs naturally in southern Europe and Asia. It is one of the plants most long used in medicine.

Licorice root has been extensively studied to support healthy digestive function. Biologically active compounds contained in licorice, thanks to their anti-inflammatory properties, regenerate the membranes of the stomach and intestines. The supplement from NOW Foods also contains aloe vera, which has soothing properties.

The extract contained in the supplement has been specially processed to remove glycyrrhizin, which is an undesirable compound for the body.

DGL is a special extract of licorice root devoid of glycyrrhizin (deglycyrrhizin). Glycyrrhizine in excessive concentration may cause cardiac arrhythmias. The deglycyrrhized form provides all the beneficial active substances contained in the licorice root.

Licorice root has large amounts of flavonoids.
