Maca is an annual root vegetable classified as a cruciferous plant (Cruciferae) just like broccoli or turnips.

Due to its unique medicinal properties, this plant is included in the group of natural "super foods".

Maca grows on poor volcanic soils located high in the mountains of South America, mainly in the Peruvian Andes at the level of 4000-4500 m above sea level.

Maca is a very good source of fatty acids (linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, palmitic acid, oleic acid, stearic acid), amino acids, including 8 essential amino acids, vitamins (B1, B2, C, E), minerals, as well as phytosterols, flavonoids and glucosinolates.

Maca is believed to have higher levels of calcium than milk, and the ratio of saturated fatty acids to unsaturated fatty acids is very beneficial. Maca has been in constant use for thousands of years. The plant was considered by the Incas as a sacred gift from the gods and was a valuable source of food.
