The Indian frankincense tree (Boswellia serrata) is one of the oldest known crops. The surprisingly long tradition of incense in the Indian diet proves its beneficial, health-promoting effects in many areas.

For supplementation, an air-dried resin known as Indian incense is used. Boswellic acids contained in it are particularly valued.
