The first Grado headphones with wooden casing were the original RS1 from 1994. The Classic Series continues this tradition with the X2 converter and improved design.
Housing made of three types of wood: outer ring made of kokobolo wood (density and tonal richness), hemp core (natural damping and smooth extreme frequencies), maple sleeve (structural stability and resonance control).
The only model of the three types of wood in the Classic series – richer and more texturally complex than the housings of the two types of wood in the Hemp model or of injected plastic in the SR series.
The open back design provides a natural, instant soundstage. The L-shaped cushion geometry and forward tuning in RS1 make this openness seem focused and direct rather than expansive. Designed to be listened to at home.
L cushions place the transducer at a medium distance from the ear — closer than G-cushions, resulting in a more extended, expressive midrange feel. Interchangeable with other types of Grado pillows.
Signature Gold strap with engraved aluminum joints, stainless steel height adjustment rods, reinforced aluminum connection blocks, leather strap with white stitching and steel spring for tool-free clamp adjustment. Compatible with the GS1000 and GS3000.
Signature Silver cable – fixed, lighter and more flexible than previous Grado cables.
Transducer adjustment: 0,05 dB for precise stereo channel balance.
Easy to control at 38 ohms and a sensitivity of 99,8 dB; noticeably scales with gain quality.
