The PLANET GS-6320-8P2X Layer 3 Managed Gigabit Switch supports IPv4 and IPv6 protocols and dynamic and static routing of Layer 3 OSPFv2. It has 8 10/100/1000BASE-T ports with 802.3at PoE+ and 2 additional 1/2.5/10 Gigabit BASE-X SFP+ fiber ports. Each of the eight gigabit ports provides 36 watts of power, and the total power budget is up to 120 watts for different types of PoE applications. The device provides a fast, secure and cost-effective Power over Ethernet networking solution for IP security surveillance for small businesses and enterprises.

Redundant ring, fast recovery for critical network applications

The GS-6320-8P2X switch supports redundant ring technology and features a strong, fast self-healing capability to prevent interruptions and intrusions from outside. The device uses advanced ITU-T G.8032 ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) technology and a strapping tree protocol (802.1w RSTP) in the customer’s network to increase system reliability and uptime in harsh environments. In some simple ring networks, the restore time can be less than 10 ms, allowing you to quickly restore normal network operation.

The RIP protocol can use the number of hops as a routing metric and prevent routing loops by limiting the number of hops allowed in the path from source to destination. OSPF is an internal dynamic routing protocol for autonomous systems based on the state of the link. This protocol creates a link state database by exchanging link states between Layer 3 switches and then uses the Shortest Path First algorithm to generate a route table based on that database.

The GS-6320-8P2X can be programmed for advanced switch management such as dynamic port aggregation, Q-in-Q VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), Layer 2/4 QoS, bandwidth control and IGMP/MLD snooping. The GS-6320-8P2X enables high-speed trunking that connects multiple ports. Supporting 5 trunk groups, it allows up to 2 ports per trunk and also supports connection failover.

Powerful security

The GS-6320-8P2X offers a comprehensive list of access controls (ACLs) from Layer 2 to Layer 4 to enforce security at the network edge. It can be used to restrict network access by rejecting packets based on source and destination IP addresses, TCP/UDP port numbers, or defined common network applications. The protection mechanism also includes port-based and MAC-based authentication of users and 802.1x devices. With the private VLAN feature, you can prevent communication between edge ports to ensure user privacy.
