Cost-optimized multimode Ethernet switch for PoE networks

To facilitate 32W PoE network applications, the PLANET FGSD-2621P is equipped with 24 10/100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet ports, 2 additional Gigabit TP ports and 1 1000BASE-X SFP combo interface, ideally suited for centralized power management. With a total PoE budget of 185 W, it has powerful Gigabit uplink and IEEE 802.3at PoE+ capabilities (up to 32W).

Two Gigabit Uplink ports

The FGSD-2621P offers two additional Gigabit TP ports and one 1000BASE-X SFP combo interface that enable network administrators to increase network bandwidth and reduce traffic when two 10/100/1000BASE-T ports or one 1000BASE-X uplink port are used to connect devices such as NVR, video streaming server, NAS and more. With a combo design, administrators can easily connect network devices no matter how large the network expansion is.

Excellent integrated solution for IP PoE monitoring

The FGSD-2621P provides a perfectly secure surveillance system with lower total costs. The FGSD-2621P features 24 10/100Mbps 802.3at PoE+ ports that are capable of delivering enough PoE power to 24 IEEE 802.3af/IEEE 802.3at PoE+ IP cameras at the same time. It is also able to connect to one 24-channel NVR or three 8-channel NVRs, uplinked to a backbone switch and monitoring center. Thanks to such an efficient switch architecture, recorded video files from PoE IP cameras can be saved in the NVR system, where the administrator can control and monitor surveillance images both on the local LAN and in remote locations.

Extending the Ethernet data transmission distance

The DIP switch provides "Standard", "VLAN" and "Extend" operating modes.

• In "Standard" mode, the FGSD-2621P acts as a regular IEEE 802.3at PoE+ switch.
• The "VLAN" operating mode includes a port-based VLAN feature that helps prevent multicasts and broadcasts from interacting with each other from the IP camera.
• In "Extend" mode, the FGSD-2621P operates in 10Mbps duplex mode per port, but supports 20-watt PoE power over a distance of up to 250 meters, overcoming the limit of 100 meters for an Ethernet UTP cable.

With this brand new feature, the FGSD-2621P provides an additional solution for extending the distance of 802.3at PoE+, thus saving the cost of installing an Ethernet cable.

Control of the condition of powered devices

The FGSD-2621P uses not only Power over Ethernet technology, but also automatic monitoring of powered devices and real-time PoE status checking.

PD alive check is used in Standard, VLAN and Extend modes. When the PoE port is enabled, the device begins to detect whether the port is transmitting data. If the port does not transmit data and the duration exceeds the specified time, the PoE will automatically turn off the power and then power again. This will also significantly increase network reliability in that the PoE port resets PD power, thereby reducing the administrator's management burden.

Flexible solution for expansion

The two mini-GBIC sockets built into the FGSD-2621P are compatible with 1000BASE-SX/LX SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) fiber optic transceivers, uplinked to backbone switch and monitoring center in long distance. The distance can be increased from 550 meters (multimode fiber) to 20/40/80/120 kilometers (single-mode fiber or WDM). They are well suited for enterprise data center and distribution applications.
