What is IODINE?

Iodine is a mineral necessary for the proper functioning of the human body. It is a key component of thyroid hormones: thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which regulate many metabolic processes, including the transformation of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. These hormones also affect the development and functioning of the nervous and bone systems.

Iodine deficiency can lead to thyroid dysfunction, such as endemic goiter or hypothyroidism, which can manifest as i.a. tiredness, weakness, problems with concentration and dry skin.
