Description

LaCie Rugged is a portable 2,5" external drive with a capacity of 2 TB, designed to store and transport data between computers with a USB-C port and classic USB ports. The compact design works well for storing backups and media archives while working in the field, on the go and when transferring files between devices on a daily basis.

Efficiency and transfer

The drive uses a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface (equivalent to USB 3.1 Gen 1) with a USB Type-C connection, offering a theoretical bandwidth of 5000 Mbit/s. Transfer speeds of about 130 MB/s can be achieved from the media when reading and writing, which allows for efficient copying of large files and efficient backups. Power supply is carried out directly from the USB bus, without the need for an additional power supply.

Construction and resistance

The disc housing is covered with a layer of rubber that improves grip and absorbs impacts. The manufacturer declares shock protection, shock resistance and splash-proof properties, which increases the security of stored data during transfer. Despite the security measures used, the device remains handy and adapted for use in mobile conditions.

Compatibility and application

The device works with computers equipped with a USB-C connector and USB ports compatible with USB 3.0/3.1/3.2 Gen 1. The drive is also compatible with select versions of macOS. The available vendor software makes it easy to set up backups and manage the privacy and protection of user data.

Dimensions and appearance

The disc measures 135,1 × 86 × 18,7 mm and weighs approximately 100 g, making it easy to carry in your bag or backpack. The case features orange elements with silver accents, emphasizing the nature of the device designed for mobile use.
