With an output voltage of 13,4V, the charger is perfect for maintaining, maintaining and recharging AGM 12V batteries used by m.in. in alarm systems, UPS emergency power supplies, cash registers, telecommunication devices, automation and many other devices requiring reliable emergency power supply.

AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries can be charged in two basic ways: indirectly through a device with a DC socket or directly using a charger connected to the battery poles (“crocodiles”).

1. Indirect charging via device and DC socket

In this case, the charger is not connected directly to the battery. It is connected to the DC power socket of the device in which the battery is mounted (e.g. UPS, alarm system, medical equipment, electric vehicle or other device equipped with an internal charging system).

How it works:

• The charger supplies voltage to the device through a DC socket.
• The device’s built-in charging system controls the AGM battery charging process.
• The electronics of the device regulate current and voltage according to the requirements of the battery.

Advantages:

• No need to access the battery poles.
• Protection against reverse connection.
• Automatic control of charging parameters by the device.

Restrictions:

• The speed and efficiency of charging depend on the quality of the charging system in the device.
• It is not always possible to verify the actual charging parameters of the battery.
• If the electronics of the device are damaged, the battery may not be charged properly.

2. Direct charging – charger with crocodiles

In this way, the charger is connected directly to the poles of the battery:

• red clamp (“+”) to the positive pole,
• black clamp (“−”) to the negative pole.

How it works:

• The charger monitors the battery voltage and provides the appropriate charging current.
• Modern AGM chargers use a multi-stage charging process (e.g. desulfurization, primary loading, absorption, maintenance).

Advantages:

• Direct control over the charging process.
• The ability to fully charge the battery regardless of the electronics of the device.
• Easier diagnosis of battery status.

Restrictions:

• Requires access to the battery.
• The correct polarity of the connection should be maintained.
• It is necessary to use a charger designed for AGM batteries or having such a mode of operation.
