Excellent interior in a small design

The excellent, lightweight and slim Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 combines advanced filming and shooting capabilities. Featuring a full-frame CMOS sensor, it features 10-bit UHD 4K60 internal recording and a wide ISO range. In addition to video functions, the camera offers a versatile range of continuous shooting applications at 7 frames per second. Whether you're shooting or shooting videos, the S5 features a fast and accurate autofocus system with object tracking, as well as 5-axis image stabilization to minimize the appearance of camera vibrations.

Cinematic video quality

In addition to photos, the Lumix S5 also offers very good video recording capabilities, including full-frame UHD 4K30p and UHD 4K60p recording using the APS-C sensor area. It is also possible to record at high speed, up to Full HD at 180 fps, as well as anamorphic recording. Optimizing recordings for post-production color correction, the S5 also features gamma settings tailored to capture a wide dynamic range. Additional image styles are available for better gradation, such as Cinelike V2 and Cinelike D2. It is also possible to record to an optional external recorder via HDMI, and support for an external microphone and headphones is also available through dedicated 3,5 mm jacks.

Durable construction

The durable, sealed design is splash and dust resistant, allowing you to work in harsh weather conditions and demanding environments. Two SD memory card slots -- one compatible with UHS-II and the other compatible with UHS-I -- provide greater flexibility for storing photos. Photographs can be separated by file type - RAW and JPEG into different tabs, saving duplicate files on both cards or simply doubling the storage space. The screen has a free tilt angle, allowing you to work at high, low, and front angles, while its tactile design provides intuitive control of settings. The precise shutter mechanism offers a maximum mechanical speed of 1/8000 s and a flash synchronization speed of 1/250 s. Fast and accurate autofous

To speed up autofocus, the Lumix S5 uses DFD (Depth-From-Defocus) technology to quickly calculate the distance to objects and adjust the focus position in just 0,08 seconds, with communication between the sensor and the lens taking place at speeds of up to 480 frames per second. This contrast-based focus method works well in both photo and video recording modes, as well as in object tracking applications that use advanced AI technology. The sensitivity and focus speed can be adjusted to further increase performance for specific objects. The camera also has 225 AF areas that provide excellent control over where the camera will focus. Additionally, by supporting low-light operation, the Low Light AF feature allows for accurate AF performance up to -6 EV.

3 shooting modes

Taking advantage of the video capabilities of the S5 camera, there are three shooting modes: Burst mode will allow you to continuously record, making it ideal in cases where you need a fast frame rate to capture the best moment. The next Pre-Burst is perfect for situations where you’re not sure which moment is most important for pressing the shutter button and will record images a second before and a second after pressing the shutter button to give you 60 frames to choose from. The last of the Burst (S/S) modes is the closest to the video recording process and allows you to select the selected frame from the video using the shutter button, and save it as a single frame at 8 or 18MP resolution.

Wireless connectivity with camera

Control your camera remotely with speed and smoothness, and observe the image in real-time. Lumix S5 has Bluetooth and WiFi option so it can be connected to a smartphone or tablet. Complementing the wireless connectivity on the camera is Lumix Sync - an iOS and Android application that is designed to pair equipment to remotely control shooting using a smartphone or tablet and wirelessly transfer photos.

Brilliant stabilization

Using matrix offset stabilization technology, the Lumix S5 features a high-resolution mode that allows you to capture and compile eight separate exposures to create a single 96MP RAW or JPEG file. This mode, suitable for static objects and when working on a tripod, creates a more detailed and color-accurate image than a single shot alone can provide. In the end, it creates an image with a resolution of 12000 x 8000 pixels.
