- Measurement of total cholesterol levels in capillary blood from the entire finger, hand or forearm by laymen and healthcare professionals.
- Measurement of total cholesterol levels in venous or arterial blood only by medical staff.

Principle of operation of the test:
The blood sample is sucked into the reaction zone of the strip under the influence of capillary force. When the filtered blood reacts with the reagent on the electrodes, the meter will detect the current, providing potential. The current will then be converted into an equivalent total plasma cholesterol value.
Chemical composition of strips:
- Total cholesterol esterase: < 2,5 units
- Total cholesterol oxidase: < 2,5 units
- Peroxidase: ≤1 Unit
- Other components (buffer, mediator, surfactant, stabilizer, etc. ): ≤ 0,02 mg
Test results:
- Measuring range: 100-400 mg/dL (2,59-10,35 mmol/l)
- Normal range for healthy adults: ≤200 mg/dL (5,17 mmol/L). (The scope is just a reference point.)
- If “Lo” is displayed on the screen, the total cholesterol level may be below 100 mg/dL (2,59 mmol/L).
- If “Hi” is displayed on the screen, the total cholesterol level may exceed 400 mg/dL (10,35 mmol/L).

Accuracy:
The accuracy of total cholesterol measurement was carried out with capillary finger blood and compared with calibrators of reference instruments that were referenced to NIST SRM 913.
