The first MOONDROP products, released shortly after the company was founded, are a series of earbuds.

It prompted us to choose this format to know that there are no earbuds of satisfactory quality on the market.

The culmination of this development was the flagship Liebesleid model released in 2017. This groundbreaking product not only showcased the potential of earbuds, but also ushered in a trend in high-end audio that continues to this day.

After four years of continuous development, technological advancement and continuous improvement, MOONDROP is proud to launch the first earbuds in the new series.

Compressed paper cone and dome

Composite membrane with flexible polyester suspension

The structure of the U-2 cone and dome is made of the same cellulose pulp paper, which is used in professional speakers, a material that exhibits high rigidity and high internal resistance. In addition, the U-2 adopts the same “suspension-cone-dome” membrane structure found in full-range speakers. Combined with the flexible suspension material, this provides a full range of frequency response, far beyond ordinary earbuds and a smoother and more balanced three-frequency distribution, resulting in fine detail reproduction and smooth natural color.

Equipped with an N52 magnetic circuit and a lightweight CCAW vibrating coil cable, the 14,8mm dynamic transducer combines wearing comfort with exceptional performance.

Efficient design and professional tuning ensure powerful bass, low distortion, full dynamics, fast treble response, rich details and natural soundstage extension.

Resonance - air viscosity damping

Reproduction of a classic brass U-shaped channel

Paying homage to pioneering acoustic designs of classic products from over 30 years ago, the structure has been optimized and improved on the basis of modern production technology, optimizing the resonance effect of the brass channel on the sound color and the effect of suppressing air viscosity on the bass, producing a unique audio texture without the need for sponge covers and bringing out the full potential of low registers.

The evolution of earbud tuning over the past decade

In 2014, the team for The acoustics of the MOONDROP research and development laboratory began work on the development and tuning of earbuds. From V5 to VX, and then to the flagship model, rich resources of invaluable tuning experience have been accumulated.

At the same time, MOONDROP continued to develop a wide range of transducers and headphones, including multi-transducer balanced armatures, dynamic, planar and electrostatic transducers. In this way, MOONDROP has established a solid practical and theoretical electroacoustic foundation and an appropriate hardware and software infrastructure that can be envied by manufacturers of ordinary earbuds.

By using the acclaimed B&K5128 measuring kit with accurate simulation of the ear canal and earlobe, you can verify the performance of the headphones, and repeated subjective listening and tuning by experienced acoustic engineers resulted in a unique sound that will delight demanding music lovers.
