Experiences from the past forming the present Electrostatic IEMs are no longer new in the landscape of high-end in-ear monitors, however, FX15 is the first attempt of FiiO in the production of such a product. In developing the FX15, the FiiO R&D team spent a lot of time researching the best use of electrostatic transducers. Due to the low sensitivity of such transducers, special care should be taken to ensure that they are not overloaded by other transducers used – dynamic and BA. Otherwise, listeners will not be able to fully experience the unique sound that electrostatic transducers bring. Dare to be at the top is an important part of the FiiO corporate culture. FiiO not only uses new technologies and materials to attract attention with new tricks as soon as possible, but focuses more on meticulously researching new methods to develop products that fully exploit the potential of such new approaches. In a way, “acting slower makes you faster.” The development of the FX15 includes this ethos, as the FiiO R&D team carefully ensured that dynamic transducers, balanced armatures and electrostatic transducers would work together in harmony to fully bring out the best of the latter before deciding to release this new IEM.

Sonion electrostatic transducers

Electrostatic transducers are known to reproduce details in the high frequency range, but such transducers are typically used in extremely expensive IEMs, often beyond the reach of most audiophiles. The FiiO FX15 uses 4 electrostatic transducers per channel, which not only provide a unique ultra-high frequency extension[1], but are extremely fast and capable of recreating every minute detail of your music, giving the listener a taste of true high-end sound.

Balanced Knowles fittings – medium and medium-high tones

The FX15 uses the proven Knowles ED-29689 balanced armature driver to handle medium to low treble frequencies, thanks to the smooth, juicy yet detailed sound of the transducer. In addition, our R&D team has reduced the sensitivity of this transducer through housing design and other methods. This ensures that BA transducers and electrostatic transducers output their respective frequency ranges without interference – resulting in both transducers cooperating in harmony with the smooth overall frequency response curve.

Dynamic DLC 10 mm

The FX15 is equipped with a 10mm dynamic DLC, selected for its high rigidity, high attenuation coefficient and other positive features – allowing the driver to deliver a solid, full sound that is both highly detailed and enjoyable to listen to. To achieve harmony between dynamic, BA and electrostatic transducers, the FiiO R&D team specifically redesigned the dynamic transducer structure, leading to consistent sound from bass to ultra-high frequencies in the FX15 frequency response curve. “In developing the FX15, we wanted electrostatic transducers to be the star of the show when playing audio. The sensitivity of a single balanced armature transducer is 110 dB. If we use multiple BA transducers, the frequency response range that includes BA transducers will be even more visible, outshining other transducers. In other words, using too many BA transducers will not allow the listener to fully experience the brilliance of electrostatic transducers. Patented acoustic design S.Turbo

The FX15 tribrid IEM is equipped with the patented S.Turbo acoustic design, designed to maximize bass performance. At the heart of the S.Turbo design is an elongated sound tube for low frequencies that effectively filters the high frequencies produced by the dynamic driver, so that the sound of the dynamic bass driver and the balanced armature transducer from medium to high tones seamlessly connects and do not interfere with each other for optimal sound quality.

Specially tuned frequency response curve

FX15 is Hi-Res Audio certified by the Japan Audio Society (JAS) and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). This is a testament to the headphones' ability to accurately reproduce sound the way it was meant to be heard.

Sound and Form Harmonic Design

The FX15 is a highly resolving IEM that is more than capable of reproducing audio at frequencies above 20 kHz. To visually represent its capabilities, the FX15 has a design that embodies the ethos of harmonious cooperation of “sound and form”. The golden ginkgo leaves superimposed on the FX15 case serve as a visual reminder of its brilliant and vivid sound, which fully allows the listener to discover stories embedded in music.

Custom 3D printed housing During the design of the FX15, FiiO worked with HeyGears to create a housing that provides both superior comfort and durability so that the listener can fully enjoy the highly resolving electrostatic IEMs without worry. The FX15 housing is made using the advanced DLP-3D printing method with printing accuracy up to 0,0375mm, so that each FX15 housing is precisely formed to provide a very consistent sound in every device made. In addition, the FX15 housing is made of photosensitive resin, which is characterized by high resistance to injuries and damage, providing solid protection for all transducers installed in it. Ergonomic triangular shape FiiO not only takes into account the shape and materials used in its IEMs, but also whether they are actually user-friendly. With multiple measurements and wearing tests, FiiO engineers have optimized the shape of the FX15 to form a triangle that is not only comfortable to wear but also stays securely in the listener’s ear – providing the perfect balance between comfort and stability. The Hi-end FX15 cable is supplied with a high purity silver cable, consisting of a total of 224 wires divided into 8 bands of 28 wires in each. Each wire is independently insulated and the cable has a Litz braid. The outer shell is made of environmentally friendly TPU, so that the cable not only looks more vivid and transparent, but also better protects it from yellowing and hardening.
