The large dynamic FT3 transducer also has other advantages. For example, due to its large size, the membrane is able to carry more power output, which leads to less distortion with substantial dynamic signals. In addition, the larger driver is able to more easily generate lower frequencies for deeper bass.

To create a suitably efficient dynamic transducer with a diameter of 60 mm, which is also easy to drive at a low resistance of 32 ohms, the FiiO engineering team had to reach beyond conventional membrane materials. After much research and testing, it was decided to equip FT3 with an LCP membrane coated with aluminum and metal composite, which not only makes the FT3 32 Ohm version easy to drive, but above all allows you to maintain high sound quality.

The larger the transducer, the easier it is to generate distortion. To reduce their level, the membrane must be very rigid. For this reason, the aluminium and metal composite membrane is coated with LCP aluminium to provide additional rigidity to the larger transducer. To reduce the weight of the entire membrane, the coating is made of lower density aluminum, while the membrane itself is made of lightweight but very rigid aluminum. In general, these design features are used to reduce distortion and thus extract more detail from the transducer.

The FT3 uses powerful N52 neodymium magnets to maximize sound quality at 32Ω impedance. These magnets have been arranged in an optimized asymmetric internal and external magnetic circuit system. When the vibrating coil begins to move during sound reproduction, the optimized magnetic circuit balances the movement of the vibrating coil and membrane, especially during large dynamic changes - allowing for more efficient use of magnetic energy and better control over the vibrating coil.

The vibrating coil is made of ultra-thin copper-coated Japanese aluminum and has a thickness of only 0,035 mm. It allows the transducer to follow signals better and faster, has anti-interference properties and allows for huge dynamics over a wide frequency range.

High-end audio cable included

The new version of the FT3 32 Ohm comes with a 1,5m cable with a diameter of 23AWG, consisting of 392 silver-plated monocrystalline copper wires. High-quality cables provide detailed and solid sound, allowing you to fully appreciate lossless music.

The FT3 has an open-back design that reduces unwanted vibrations and resonances and provides a more voluminous soundstage, because when the transducer pushes air into the housing, the open back allows it to flow better. FT3 has undergone many fit tests at FiiO Labs, and the 3-axis rotating design is one of the results of these tests. The 3-axis rotating design is specifically designed so that the FT3 can better fit a wide range of head and face shapes, providing greater comfort and a better seal to maximize sound quality.

Converters positioned at an angle parallel to the ear

The FT3 transducer has been positioned at an angle to be parallel to the ear when worn, which helps reduce the high-frequency response caused by waves hitting the contour of the ear and not entering it. Angle-set transducers can also minimize unwanted reflections caused by the headphone housing, which could cause standing waves, as well as reduce frequency response distortion. In addition, there is a reflective tip towards the back of the FT3 housing, which is specifically designed to direct the sound waves produced by the transducer to prevent mutual interference of unwanted reflections, both to further minimize sound defects and to reduce unwanted artifacts in the frequency response.
