Why is L-glutamine supplementation so important for your muscle development?

Protein is an essential component of musculature. The strength and mass of our muscles depends on the amount of proteins stored in them.

Nitrogen is an element characteristic of protein that does not occur - neither in fats nor in carbohydrates. The amount of protein stored in the muscles is therefore measured by the amount of nitrogen retained in the body, which is called nitrogen balance. The higher the nitrogen balance - the "bigger and stronger the muscles".

Glutamine is the primary nitrogen storage and transporter. Glutamine provides nitrogen to the muscles, where it is built into amino acids and proteins, i.e. stimulates anabolic processes.

When other organs or tissues need nitrogen, they draw it from muscle tissue. Muscle proteins then break down, what we call catabolism, and their nitrogen is transferred to glutamine, which brings this element to other tissues. However, if, in a similar situation, the body has an adequate supply of ready-made glutamine - this brings nitrogen to the tissues and does not catabolism of muscle proteins.

Consumption of ready-made glutamine, e.g. in the form of sports nutrients, leads to the creation of a high value nitrogen balance, i.e. the state of the internal environment of the body, which promotes anabolic processes - and at the same time - inhibition of catabolic processes.

Studies in humans have proven the high effectiveness of glutamine in improving nitrogen (protein) management of the body. However, studies in athletes have shown that its positive impact on nitrogen management translates into the development of physical strength - to a slightly lesser extent than expected.

Due to its unique role in nitrogen management, glutamine is involved in a huge number of metabolic pathways, associated with anabolic and catabolic processes. However, it always remains only one element of each trail. Preparation intended for physically active people, competitive athletes and recreational exercisers to supplement the diet with L-glutamine.

Recommended daily dose: 1-2 servings a day – before breakfast, after training or before bedtime. Dissolve 1 serving (10 g powder = 1 scoop) in 200 ml of water. Consume immediately after preparation. Do not exceed the portion recommended for consumption during the day. A dietary supplement cannot be used as a substitute for a varied diet. A balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are recommended.
