The dinghy is made of super strong material **PVC coated fabric &Hypalon 1100**. How to choose a good dinghy (Note – copyrighted text)

1.    Dinghy Color

The color of the dinghy is important for its durability, especially when exposed to prolonged sunlight. Lifeboats for offshore yachts are usually entirely white or light gray. White reflects sunlight, preventing chambers from overheating and excessive pressure buildup. In our latitudes, almost any color will suffice, except black. Black absorbs sunlight, causing the tubes to heat up significantly, risking burns or even damage. Sometimes, after a few years, glued or welded seams on black areas can become seriously damaged. Therefore, avoid dinghies where the air chamber sections above the waterline are black – in fact, no company produces dinghies in this color. For fishing in in Poland, green, gray, dark gray, or light dinghies work well, as long as they are not predominantly black. Darker accents should not occupy more than 10% of the surface area of a single tube above the waterline.

2.    Floor Type

Slatted

- Panel floor (HSS model). This floor technology allows for very quick assembly and disassembly, but it's not as light or rigid as an AirMat. Dinghies with this floor work well with electric motors, are acceptable with lower-power combustion engines, and the lack of a keel limits their use on larger bodies of water and seas – hence these models are popular with amateur anglers. Due to their shallow draft, these dinghies perform well on forest lakes, silty waters, and marshes.

Wooden with aluminum frames

- a proven design, excellent for tourism and water sports, often chosen by anglers, easy to maintain, and very strong. It should be made of waterproof birch plywood, additionally treated with varnish, as in HSD, FWSD models. A control console can be easily mounted on a dinghy with this floor.

VIB

– a comfortable floor made with AirMat technology that directly forms a deep keel. Very light, durable floor made of polyester fibers; a dinghy with this floor fits into one bag. In our experience, this floor is less durable than AirMat – it's great for clear waters, but the internal shape is uncomfortable to stand on.

AirMat

– an excellent floor made of polyester fibers, it has the best features of a traditional floor: an inflatable keel, and a space between the bottom and the floor that collects water. Very light and durable, a dinghy with this floor fits into one bag and is 30% lighter than a traditional one, allowing for quick setup and takedown. For active travelers, photographers, anglers. With this dinghy, due to its ease of adaptation, you will use it much more often than a traditional one. A control console can be easily mounted on a dinghy with this floor. All my trips to Croatia and recorded videos are with dinghies with this type of floor.

Aluminum

– the heaviest floor, but also the most durable. An aluminum floor dinghy is worth buying if you transport large, hard, heavy items. A control console can be easily mounted on a dinghy with this floor.

RIB

– dinghies with this floor are easy to get on plane and maintain planing with a relatively low engine power. Best for those who want to "have fun" on the water and quickly cover large distances. Lightweight HSR type RIB dinghies can be easily transported on a roof rack; when folded, they are half the size of a regular boat, but relatively larger than standard dinghies. HSR dinghies are professional RIBs with consoles – for those who already know what sporty planing is.

3.    Material and its Durability

Mechanical strength is determined by the middle layer, which is a mesh whose density is called grammage. The denser the mesh, i.e., higher grammage (e.g., 1100g/m2), the higher the operating pressure of the dinghy and its durability. The quality of the polyester mesh directly affects the dinghy's operating pressure. Currently, good dinghies have an operating pressure of 0.25-0.3 Bar. Below 0.2 Bar (atm) is oilcloth, not a proper dinghy (density 850-950g/m2). The outer layer must be UV resistant. This is a drawback of most dinghies sold on our market made from Chinese material. Info-Media dinghies are made from the highest quality material produced in Korea. You should also avoid welded dinghies; this is a cheap solution for pool equipment.

4.    Hypalon or PVC Coating

Hypalon is only the outer layer of the composite. Mechanical strength is determined by the middle layer; a good dinghy can be made of PVC but with a good internal polyester mesh. The advantage of Hypalon over PVC is greater resistance to oils, solvents, and UV radiation.

5.    Dinghy Weight

Unfortunately, the quality of a dinghy is usually directly proportional to its weight. The weight of a dinghy can be reduced by using an AirMat, but using aluminum or spruce plywood benches instead of birch plywood is a poor solution. I do not recommend seating on aluminum, and lower quality plywood will crack when the dinghy hits a wave (personal experience from one trip). Some manufacturers reduce the tube diameter, e.g., for a 320cm length, using 36mm tubes, which reduces buoyancy, load capacity, and engine size.

You can roughly estimate the quality of a dinghy by its weight. A good dinghy with a full floor must weigh approximately 18 kilograms per meter of length. I know this is a big simplification, but if a 3.2-meter dinghy weighs less than 50kg, it's not worth bothering with. Of course, you should consider the floor type: +10% for aluminum, -25% for AirMat.

6.    Certificates and Nameplate

Currently, according to EU law, every dinghy must be accompanied by a certificate of conformity confirming production quality. The nameplate is often checked by the maritime guard (frequently in Croatia). It is also important to have Marine Class C and a CE certificate, which is valid throughout the EU and is practically a global standard for safe use. If you don't want your vacation ruined by the maritime guard, ensure your equipment is legal. Our dinghies have all the required certificates, including Marine Class C, specified on the nameplate. F. Load Capacity Riddle

If a 3.2m long dinghy has a load capacity of 3.5 people, the same as a good 2.7m dinghy, it indicates poor material quality or a weak safety test, e.g., a small number of chambers, lack of pressure-equalizing diaphragms, or an undersized tube diameter. All good quality dinghies have similar load capacities: 2.7m - 3.5 persons; 2.9m - 4 persons; 3.2m - 4.5 persons; 3.6m - 5.5 persons. This is primarily due to material quality and certification conditions. Considering that to get a dinghy on plane, the power requirement increases logarithmically (approx. 6HP for 290cm), consider whether it's better to buy a "floppy" or proper equipment. The above does not apply to sport RIB dinghies, where the number of people is determined by stability at high speed planing.
