Satechi Stand & Hub For Mac Studio M5 With NVMe SSD Enclosure is a stand with USB-C hub and SSD enclosure. It provides a USB-C port, three USB-A ports, SD and microSD card readers, and a headphone jack. It connects to your computer with a single USB-C cable, and the built-in enclosure supports M.2 NVMe PCIe and M.2 SATA drives.

Compatible with Mac Studio

The current Satechi product sheet lists the following models:

• Mac Studio M5 Max and M5 Ultra from 2026
• Mac Studio M1–M4 from 2022 to 2025.

NVMe and M.2 SATA SSD enclosure

The built-in enclosure allows you to expand the space for data by mounting a compatible SSD. It supports two types of media:

• M.2 NVMe PCIe – 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 formats, up to 4 TB capacity and data transfer up to 10 Gbps.
• M.2 SATA – 2242, 2260 and 2280 formats and data transfer up to 6 Gb/s.

The enclosure does not support double-sided drives or models with a heat sink mounted. The SSD is not included. Housing support works in Plug and Play mode and does not require driver installation.

Data storage and backups Time Machine

The drive mounted in the stand can be used to store files, photos and videos and to back up using Time Machine.

The vendor recommends using the enclosure as additional storage or backup space. It does not recommend running macOS or other operating systems from a disk in the hub.

USB-C port for data transfer

The front USB-C 3.2 port supports data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps and allows you to connect peripherals and storage media.

The USB-C connector is used for data transmission. It does not support monitor connection or image transfer and is not designed to charge devices.

Three USB-A ports

The hub provides three USB-A connectors with the following parameters:

• 1 × USB-A 3.2 – data transfer up to 10 Gbps,
• 2 × USB-A 3.0 – data transfer up to 5 Gbps.

Ports allow you to use accessories such as USB sticks, keyboards, mice, webcams and USB microphones. They are not designed to charge devices or support CD readers, including Apple SuperDrive.

SD and microSD card readers UHS-I

The stand has separate SD and microSD card slots. The readers operate in the UHS-I standard and support speeds up to 104 MB/s.

UHS-I and UHS-II cards can be used, with UHS-II cards operating at UHS-I speed. For optimal performance, the manufacturer recommends using one card slot at a time.

Minijack headphone jack

The built-in minijack audio jack allows you to connect your headphones directly to the hub. The connector is next to the other ports on the front of the stand.

Air flow support design

Elevated support elements lift the computer, leaving space for airflow. Ventilation holes allow heat dissipation and help maintain the correct operating temperature of the computer and hub.

The connection cable is located on the back of the stand. The design combines the function of computer support, port extension and SSD enclosure in one device.

Power from your computer and connect accessories

The hub draws power from the connected computer. The available power is shared between the installed SSD and other devices.

The manufacturer recommends connecting one external USB-powered media at a time. Accessories with higher energy requirements may require their own power source.

Mounting an SSD

To mount the drive, remove the housing cover located on the bottom of the stand, slide the SSD into the connector at a slight angle and secure it with the included screw. Then the cover must be reinstalled.

The set includes a screw and a screwdriver needed for installation. A new drive that your system does not recognize may need to be formatted in the macOS Disk Utility.
