The origins of Riken date back to 1917, when the Riken Gomu Industry was founded. It was later the creation of the Riken Rubber Company branch and it is from this branch that the history of the tyre manufacturer begins.
Initially, the Aponnese tyre brand was founded in 1958 under the name Nippon Riken Rubber. This was the result of the merger of two companies - Riken Rubber Company and Okamoto Rubber Industries. In the same year, the first tyres of the Japanese manufacturer were produced.
Riken has been growing since the beginning. In 1961, a factory was opened in Kanagawa, and two years later the Japanese company opened its first overseas subsidiary in Hong Kong.
In the late 80s. Riken tyres went to Europe, where they gained the trust of drivers, which contributed to the acquisition of the company by the industry pioneer - Michelin. It is the French manufacturer who takes care of the quality of the Riken brand.
