The foam cartridge of the Wessper brand is made of high quality polypropylene, characterized by high chemical resistance. This material is resistant to acids and various types of contaminants, which ensures long-lasting and reliable filter operation.

Thanks to small, absorbent bubbles that are located on the surface of the filter, it effectively stops larger mechanical impurities, such as:

Polypropylene / foam filter designed for filtration of solid impurities occurring in the home installation. The cartridge is a universal product. The filter stops mechanical contaminants, e.g. silt, rust, sand and other deposits without reducing water pressure. It provides ideal protection for all devices available in the household.

✅ Foam inserts are characterized by a specially designed porous structure, usually made of polypropylene foam. They serve as pre-filters, often used interchangeably with string inserts.

Foam filter – micron

✅ Micron of the cartridge determines the particle size that the filter is able to filter out.

✅ Micron is selected based on the degree of water pollution. In general, the principle is that the smaller the micron – the more accurate the filtration is. However, in the case of selection of a cartridge with a small micron, which is to work with contaminated water containing e.g. a lot of sand – there may be a quick clogging of the filter.

Differences in micron

The difference in micron (filtration density) with foam filters (used for pre-filtration) is the particle size that the filter stops:

5 micron (accurate)

• retains: dust, silt, fine rust, organic suspensions
• application: last stage of filtration before coal or RO
• Advantage: Highest accuracy
• Disadvantage: clogs faster

10 micron (universal)

• retains: sand, silt, rust
• application: most often in domestic installations
• Advantage: compromise between accuracy and durability
• Disadvantage: less accurate than 5 µm

20 micron (coarse)

• retains: larger particles, sand, gravel, rust in pieces
• application: first stage of filtration, also for well water
• Advantage: less likely to clog, protects subsequent cartridges
