Data transmission and power supply for PoE / PoE+ cameras

Switch BCS-B-SP16G-2SFP-M has built-in 16 PoE ports gigabit ethernet, in the standard 802.3af / 802.3at (PoE / PoE+). With their help, it is possible to transmit data and power PoE cameras on the same UTP cable. Due to this property, PoE technology improves installation flexibility. The most important advantages of Power over Ethernet technology include:

• It allows you to mount cameras in places where standard power supplies cannot be brought. This significantly improves the flexibility of the monitoring system installation
• Reduces the number of wires necessary for proper camera installation, which can speed up and reduce the cost of their installation
• It does not require any prior configuration. Switch automatically recognizes whether the connected camera supports the PoE standard and, if so, automatically powers it

The power of a single PoE port is a maximum of 46 W. The total power consumption of all cameras connected to the switch must not exceed 150 W.

VLAN mode

Improvement of system security

When VLAN mode is active, PoE ports "can't see each other," making it impossible to transfer data between them. This simple procedure significantly increases the safety of the entire monitoring system. A third party cannot detach the camera from the network, connect to it on the same cable and try to reconfigure or disable the other cameras.

EXTEND mode

Increasing transmission range

Another advantage of the BCS-B-SP16G-2SFP-M switch is support for EXTEND mode on 1~8 ports. Switch operating in this mode increases the effective transmission range from 100 m to 250 m. Thanks to this, the switch can be used to build a relatively extensive monitoring system. Switching to EXTEND mode, however, involves limiting the bandwidth of PoE ports to 10 Mbps.

QoS mode

AI QoS mode for intelligent packet flow management. The switch operating in this mode increases the priority of transferring packets that contain video file data. This allows you to maintain the continuity of video transmission in conditions when there are any losses on the link.
