Switch Netgear GS305E

Netgear GS305E is a 5-port Gigabit Smart Managed Plus switch that combines high gigabit network performance with basic management features. It was designed for small businesses and home offices, where simple network expansion with the ability to control traffic and segment the network is needed.

The device offers 5 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbps ports, which provide fast and stable data transfer between computers, servers, network printers or Wi-Fi access points. Thanks to the Plug-and-Play architecture, the switch can start working immediately after connecting, without the need for complicated configuration.

The GS305E is part of the Smart Managed Plus series, which offers features that allow to optimize the operation of the corporate network, such as VLAN, QoS, IGMP Snooping, network traffic monitoring and port bandwidth limitation. These features enable better control over data traffic and increase network performance and security.

Network segmentation and connection control

With support for VLAN (Virtual LAN), the switch enables division of the network into smaller segments, which facilitates resource management and increases the security of communication between devices. An administrator can assign different resources to specific user groups or devices.

The switch also has a network cable diagnostic function, which allows to check the quality of Ethernet connections and quickly detect possible damage to cables. This makes it possible to quickly locate problems in the network infrastructure.

Motion priorities and multimedia broadcasts

Switch supports Quality of Service (QoS), which enables prioritization of network traffic, e.g. for VoIP or video voice transmissions. As a result, important data packets are transmitted first, which minimizes communication delays.

The IGMP Snooping function enables effective management of multicast traffic that is used by m.in. in multimedia transmissions or IPTV systems. The switch only forwards multicast packets to those ports that need them, limiting unnecessary network traffic.

Easy installation and management

Setting up the switch is very simple. The device can be detected on the network using Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) or the NETGEAR Discovery Tool, which allows you to find the switch and access its management interface from a Windows, macOS or Linux computer.

Once the device is detected, the administrator can log in to the management interface through the browser, where configuration and network monitoring functions are available.

In addition, the switch can be mounted on the wall, using special mounting holes located at the bottom of the housing, which facilitates installation in small office spaces.
