Purpose and application

The DGS-1250-52X is a managed Smart class switch designed to support networks in medium and large companies; it is used to aggregate access-level traffic and distribution with support for L3 layer functions. The device allows you to create an extensive VLAN infrastructure and implement basic static routes, which allows you to segment and separate voice and supervisory traffic.

Performance and routing

The switch offers a switching bandwidth of 176 Gbps and a forwarding rate of approximately 130,95 Mpps, ensuring stable traffic handling in high-intensity environments. Support for MAC address arrays up to 32 000 entries and 16 MB memory buffer minimizes packet loss with load increases. The device supports static IPv4 and IPv6 routes (m.in. 124 IPv4 entries and 50 IPv6 entries, giving you the ability to easily route your network without the need for additional routers.

The model is equipped with 48 RJ-45 ports operating in Gigabit Ethernet mode and 4 SFP+ ports designed for 10 Gbps connections, which allows you to connect to core layer aggregation or servers with higher bandwidth requirements. The presence of an RJ-45 console port makes it easy to set up and diagnose. The device supports mechanisms related to multipoint transmission and optical diagnostics for SFP/SFP+ modules.

Management and security

The switch offers extensive management and security features typical of the Smart class, including VLAN separation (up to 4094 groups), Voice VLAN, DHCP client/server and DHCP snooping, access control lists (ACLs) and QoS mechanisms with the Weighted Round Robin algorithm. In terms of authentication and security, EAP, LEAP, MD5, PEAP, TTLS and SSH and SSL/TLS communication security are supported. The device also supports traffic monitoring and port mirroring functions and multicast broadcasting.

Design and power supply

The switch housing is 1U for mounting in a RACK cabinet, dimensions 440 x 210 x 44 mm and weight about 3,01 kg. The power supply is realized from an internal power supply, and the maximum power consumption in operation is about 51,2 W. The device is designed for continuous operation in standard server room and ICT rooms, with a wide range of operating and storage temperatures and compliance with typical emission and safety standards.
