Introduction

The Art. 05165 thermometer is designed to safely measure the temperature in the ear canal.

With proper use, it allows you to quickly and accurately determine your body temperature.

How an infrared thermometer works

The thermometer measures the infrared radiation emitted by the eardrum and nearby tissues, converting them into the temperature value displayed on the LCD screen.

Advantages of the ear thermometer

• Measurement close to the brain ensures accurate temperature reproduction of internal organs.
• The eardrum has a common blood supply to the hypothalamus, the center of body temperature regulation.
• The measurement is fast, hygienic and safe (when using new casings).

Comparison with other methods:

• Measurement under the arm – less accurate, measures skin temperature.
• Measurement in the mouth – may be disturbed by eating, drinking or breathing.
• Measurement in the anus – accurate, but less convenient and slower to react to changes.

The temperature may vary individually and during the day.

Method of use

1. Apply a new cover to the probe and make sure it adheres tightly.
2. Turn on the thermometer with the ON/OFF button.
3. Wait until the standby symbol appears on the screen.
4. Insert the probe into the ear:

   Children < 1 year: pull the ear down and back.

   Children >1 year and adults: pull the ear up and back.

5. Press TEST. The result will come in ok. 1 to 2 seconds.
6. The thermometer will turn off automatically after 60 seconds of inactivity.

Measurement guidelines

1. Always measure in the same ear.
2. Do not measure after physical exertion.
3. Avoid measuring after a bath or meal.
4. Make sure your ear is clean.
5. Wait 20 minutes after changing the ambient temperature.
6. Do not touch the probe. Clean it with an alcohol swab and dry it.
7. If the thermometer was stored at a different temperature, leave it for 30 minutes at the measurement site.

Memory mode

1. Hold down ON/OFF until “M” appears.
2. The thermometer records the last 10 measurements (0 = last, 9 = oldest).
3. When all records are displayed, the device will go into test mode.

Cleaning and maintenance

1. Clean the probe with a soft cotton swab with alcohol.
2. Put on a new cover after drying.
3. Do not immerse the thermometer in water.
4. Store in a dry, cool place, away from the sun.

Battery replacement

1. When the discharged battery symbol appears, replace it.
2. Remove the battery cover.
3. Insert the new CR2032 battery with the “+” pole up.
