Fine thread (Mf) is a smaller pitch than standard metric thread. It gives a stronger and more reliable connection resistant to loosening from vibrations, which is why it is commonly used in automotive, power hydraulics, agricultural and construction machinery and precision mechanics.

Tips for use

Before cutting the internal thread, make a hole with a drill with a diameter consistent with the table for a given fine thread size. Work with threading oil by doing a quarter turn back every 1/2 turn — this breaks the chip and protects the blades from crushing. Start with a stripper tap, finish with a finishing tap.
