Eye AF detects and focuses on the eyes of the subjects being photographed in real time, even if part of the face is hidden, highlighted or when the subject is looking down. With AF calculations up to 60 times per second, the RX100 VII’s autofocus delivers outstanding continuous shooting and stunning portraits by precisely maintaining focus on the eyes of an object – a person or animal. When photographing people, running Eye AF in real time only requires pressing the shutter button halfway.

4K HDR (HLG) recording

For 4K resolution (QFHD resolution: 3840 x 2160), for RX100 VII movies, it applies full pixel reading, without pixel linking, with 1,7x oversampling to provide excellent resolution with reduced mora effect and descent. XAVC S video format provides high-speed recording (max. 100 Mbps), and thanks to the capabilities of HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), you can admire the HDR image by connecting the camera to an HDR-compatible Sony TV (HLG) using a USB cable.

Improved image stabilization for better video quality

The camera image stabilization system has been improved and allows for active use when recording 4K videos. Thanks to the development of camera algorithms, the image stabilization effect when recording HD videos also reaches a higher level regardless of the recording mode selected, providing better performance than previously available functions. In addition, you can use the Movie Edit add-on for the Imaging Edge™ mobile application, which will allow you to get smooth images comparable to recording using a gimbal.

Recording a video in vertical format
