CHASING Dory Explore Deep Purple – underwater drone with metal detector

The CHASING Dory Explore in Deep Purple is an underwater drone designed for visual exploration of shallow waters such as coastal zones, lakes, swimming pools and aquariums. The model combines a Full HD camera, two LED lights and a depth-keeping function with a metal detector and a mesh for taking small objects.

Full HD image and recording of materials

The drone is equipped with a 1/2,9" CMOS camera with f/1.6 lens, 100° field of view and ISO 100 to 3200 range. Captures JPEG images with a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 px and Full HD videos of 1920 × 1080 px at 30 fps. /s in MP4 format. The buoy has 16 GB of built-in memory for recording materials.

Lighting and Position Control

Two LED lights with a brightness of 2 × 250 lm, a color temperature of 4500 – 5000 K and a CRI of 80 support underwater observation. The sensors used include an accelerometer, an axial gyroscope, a compass, a depth sensor with an accuracy below ±0,5 m and a temperature sensor with an accuracy below ±2°C. The depth-keeping feature helps you maintain a fixed vertical position while exploring.

Exploration up to 15 m

CHASING Dory Explore can work at a maximum depth of 15 m. The set includes a retractor with a cable length of 14,5 m, so the parameters apply exactly to this version, not models equipped with longer wires. The ROV itself measures 247 × 188 × 92 mm and weighs about 1,1 kg.

App control and Bluetooth remote control

Operation is via the app and the included Bluetooth remote control. The drone allows forward and backward movement, turning left and right, emerging, dipping and changing the slope in the range of ±45°. The buoy provides a Wi-Fi connection at a distance of up to 15 m. The manufacturer also provides for the connection of two devices, thanks to which one person can control the drone and the other operate the preview or record shots.

Metal detector and mesh

The included metal detector signals detection with flashing light. According to the specification, it allows you to detect a coin with a diameter of 22 mm from a distance of 4 cm, works with a frequency of 3 kHz and is adapted to a depth of 15 m. The set is complemented by a mesh with dimensions of 9 × 8 cm and a depth of 8 cm, designed for lifting objects weighing 30 to 50 g.

Power supply and operating conditions

Operating time ranges from 35 minutes at full power to 4 hours in stationary water with the lighting off; the actual time is indicated in the application and depends on the conditions of use. The ROV battery is designed for at least 300 cycles. The charger has parameters of 12,6 V / 1,8 A, and the ROV charge takes about 3 hours. The operating temperature range is from -10 to 50°C.
