Creatine

Creatine is a naturally occurring non-protein amino acid compound and is found mainly in skeletal muscle (approx. 95%), and the remaining amounts in the brain and testicles (approx. 5%). About two-thirds of intramuscular creatine is phosphocreatine, while the remainder is creatine free. Phosphocreatine supports the synthesis and maintenance of ATP availability, especially during exercise. Creatine increases physical performance in the case of consecutive short, very intense physical exercises. The beneficial effect occurs when consuming 3 g of creatine per day. This applies to adults doing high-intensity physical exercise.

Arginine

Arginine is classified as a conditionally essential amino acid. One of the main functions of arginine is its participation in protein synthesis. It also plays other roles in the body, e.g. affects the detoxification of ammonia formed during nitrogen catabolism of amino acids by the formation of urea and has the ability to convert into glucose. Arginine is used by many metabolic pathways that produce a variety of biologically active compounds (e.g. nitric oxide, creatine or citrulline). Arginine affects the increase in the amount of nitric oxide, which acts as a signaling molecule and has an effect on the dilatation of blood vessels. That is, one of the main effects of nitric oxide on skeletal muscle metabolism is to increase the supply and uptake of fuel substrates through its vasodilatory effect.

Glutamine

Glutamine is also classified as a conditionally essential amino acid. Glutamine accounts for two-thirds of all free amino acids in muscles, and muscle tissue accounts for 70% of its synthesis. There is a link between the amount of free glutamine and the possibility of protein synthesis. That is, the human body uses glutamine as an oxidizing fuel, a substrate for nucleotide synthesis, a modulator of indirect amino acid metabolism.

Citrulline

L-citrulline is an amino acid that is a precursor to L-arginine and contributes to the production of nitric oxide.
