As a result of more than 10 years of intensive research, development and testing, the goal of the Supertech helmet family is to create the most advanced, protective and performance-enhancing helmets possible for motorcyclists around the world. This follows years of extensive research, development and testing of the Supertech R10 racing helmet by the Helmet Product Development Department of Alpinestars together with MotoGP legend Andrea Dovizioso and MotoGP riders Jorge Martin and Jack Miller. For the S-R10, the main goal of the project was to ensure the highest level of performance, especially when it comes to protection and a new level of safety. The Alpinestars Supertech S-R10 helmet is designed to provide the perfect combination of superior ventilation, unparalleled comfort, and the lowest possible weight, without compromising on other elements. Another key element, unique to the design and development of the Supertech R10, is the advanced aerodynamics of the helmet, with countless sessions in the wind tunnel aimed at reducing drag and ensuring optimal aerodynamic stability.

A-HEAD MOUNTING SYSTEM

The personalization and individual fit of the Supertech R10 helmet is complemented by the unique and patented A-Head mounting system. The A-Head system allows you to precisely adjust the helmet to the rider's preferences, thanks to the ability to adjust both the height and angle at which the helmet is on the head. The EPS is equipped with an A-Head attachment system that allows for a very specific configuration that can be adjusted to the depth of the rider's head placement in the helmet, as well as how far the helmet is tilted forward or backward.

AERODYNAMICS

Developed on the basis of CFD simulations, verified in the wind tunnel and on the track, the Supertech R10 helmet is optimized for low drag and maximum aerodynamic stability.

The S-R10 has been developed in a full-size wind tunnel since its inception. Aerodynamic targets for drag coefficient in different head positions, as well as stability at different angles, were the main objective when developing the helmet shape, first extensively developed using computational fluid dynamics, then verified in a full-size wind tunnel and finally on the track. The result is a helmet that achieves the lowest level of drag and the highest level of aerodynamic stability at high speed compared to any other racing helmet we have tested in the wind tunnel. This has made the Alpinestars Supertech R10 the most popular helmet by factory MotoGP teams due to its best aerodynamic performance. Road drivers will also benefit from this, as they will reduce the strain on the neck at high speed and low wind noise.

VENTILATION

The Supertech R10 helmet has eleven ventilation points.

When it comes to ventilation and breathability, we have 11 ventilation inlets, including 3 in the chin guard and 4 on the top of the helmet, plus 4 outlets, including 2 side on the jaw, and 2 on the top of the back of the helmet. These ventilation ports integrate directly into the helmet shell via a series of air ducts passing through the EPS inner lining. In the S-R10, air enters through ports and also actively circulates around the rider’s head through a series of channels, and is then removed from the back of the helmet.

The upper vent features a large central zip that directs air down to the top of the head for added comfort, and when opened, it features vents that drain hot air from the rider's forehead. Under the rear spoiler there are two ventilation holes for efficient hot air drainage. Vents under the chin form two holes located in the front of the helmet on the sides of the visor lock mechanism, with each flap having a protrusion in the corner, which is used to open or close the ventilation hole. The air coming from this place is directed towards the inside of the shields, creating a laminated air stream that effectively prevents fogging and fogging. In addition, ventilation holes on the chin are used to drain moist air to the outside of the helmet.

VIEWFINDER FEATURES

The viewfinder mechanism is equipped with metal lock elements that prevent unwanted detachment of the viewfinder during impacts, locked in a closed position with a front metal lock.

The viewfinder has two unique features, including a metal locking mechanism lever that prevents the cover from unwanted detachment during impacts and/or accidents, as well as a lowered side line for maximum field of view, placed at the top of an already unique wide eyepiece providing 220 degrees of lateral visibility and 57 degrees vertically ensures high driving comfort.

The glass is attached to the shell using cam side mechanisms, allowing it to rotate and move to completely seal it relative to the rubber finish of the helmet opening.

Plus, the viewfinder itself can be easily replaced or removed with a secure and tool-free quick release system.

The S-R10 is equipped with a 3 mm thick optical class 1 cover and coated with a scratch and fogging resistant coating.

The viewfinder is equipped with internal pegs in which you can place PINLOCK 120XLT - 100% MAX VISION, and external pegs to mount rippers.

REMOVABLE PADDING

The padding can be removed and washed. It is made of antibacterial material.

Upper padding - is removable and adjustable in height with the A-Head attachment system.

Cheek Pillows: The cheek pads are made of high-quality foam and material for comfort and breathability. The cheek pads also have an emergency pull-out system, allowing for easy removal of the lining of the side cheeks by trackside operation and medical staff, and also have a channel for mounting the hydration system.

Carbon fiber outer shell

Approved according to ECE 22.06, DOT and FIM standards, the Supertech R10 shell construction uses highly advanced forming technology with a combination of multiple composites, including a later 3K high-density carbon outer layer, a one-way carbon composite layer, an aramid fiber layer and fiberglass.

The high-density 3K carbon outer layer provides superior strength and energy dissipation efficiency on the shell.

The one-way carbon composite (UD) layer provides much greater radial strength around the shell, preventing compression but allowing controlled deflection to reduce the impact energy transmitted. A aramid fiber and fiberglass layers

provide critical protection against penetration.

This layered composite combination formed by combining everything together with an advanced epoxy resin already applied to the prepreg fiber, perfectly controls the ideal ratio of resin to fiber to maximize strength, mechanical performance and lightness. The combination of material layers provides better energy management as well as limited deflection of the outer shell, so that the energy spreads wider and is better absorbed by the EPS padding.

INNER SHELL

The S-R10 has four inner shells, such as the outer shell, and is available in four anatomical sizes. The design of the S-R10 has been optimized to ensure that riders get the correct fit, which not only improves comfort and reduces overall weight, but most importantly, improves the effectiveness of the helmet in the event of an impact. Underneath the outer shell of the helmet is an eight-piece EPS padding of different densities, with six specific densities, which are strategically placed in different zones to provide excellent energy absorption from impact forces scattered on the outer shell, as well as a tight and comfortable fit. The EPS liner, like the outer shell, has its own unique dimension for each helmet size, further adjusting the performance and fit of the helmet when it comes to protection and comfort.

The Alpinestars Supertech R10 helmet is equipped with an aerodynamic Road spoiler – an optional longer racing version is available – and both are equipped with a Alpinestars patented release system with flexible connectors that help disconnect the spoiler from the helmet shell if necessary (accident).

There are also side wings that further support the stability of the S-R10 and improve aerodynamic drag. In addition, the helmet visor has turbulators that improve aeroacoustic parameters. As a result, compared to the aerodynamic performance of a helmet equipped with a standard road spoiler, the S-R10 itself is already the most effective aerodynamic helmet we have tested, and thanks to the combined configuration of the racing spoiler and aerodynamic wings, we achieved a resistance reduction of an additional 4,54%.

The unique design of the S-R10 shell provides extremely effective impact protection. Thanks to a fully equipped internal helmet testing facility at the state-of-the-art Alpinestars R&D centre, the company has carried out a comprehensive impact research programme. Our research and development efforts have shown that the S-R10 returns results for linear and oblique impacts that significantly exceed the current helmet standard limits set out in ECE 22.06. In the case of direct linear impacts, i.e. strikes at an angle of 90 degrees between the helmet and the object, the S-R10 exceeds the standard by an average size of 37%. However, in the case of rotational accelerations and diagonal impacts, where the impact energy comes from an angle other than a linear 90 degrees or a right-angled impact, the S-R10 exceeds the standard by 65%.
