Why L-ascorbic acid and not a buffered form of vitamin C?
L-ascorbic acid is the best studied and purest form of vitamin C. Buffered forms (e.g. Sodium ascorbate/calcium) are milder on the stomach at high doses, but at 1000 mg per capsule with a meal, L-ascorbic acid is well tolerated by most people.
Is 1000 mg a safe dose?
Yes - 1000 mg is a commonly used dose and safe for healthy adults. The upper tolerated intake according to EFSA is 2000 mg per day. However, the product should not be used in people who are predisposed to the formation of kidney stones or suffer from kidney stones.
