Borage oil is a nutritious oil consisting of 60% polyunsaturated fats and about twice the average content of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) than evening primrose oil. GLA is an essential fatty acid that the body is able to produce from linoleic acid contained in the diet; however, it can be used more effectively for bodily functions when supplied directly from food sources. Studies have shown that borage oil does not contain harmful levels of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA). NOW® Borage Oil is pressed from poppy seeds and does not contain hexane.
