Description

Vitamin K2 can be further divided into several different subtypes, but the most important are MK-4 and MK-7- which has the longest half-life in the body.

The term vitamin K does not refer to only one compound, but at least three main ones: vitamin K1 (phytomenadione), K2 (menaquinone) and K3 (menadione). Due to differences in chemical structure, these vitamins are characterized by completely different biological activity, effectiveness and bioavailability, affecting their functioning in the body.

Functions of vitamin K2 MK-7:

For many years, vitamin K has been attributed only to its role in the process of blood clotting, because it maintains at an appropriate level the factors determining normal blood clotting. In our body, calcium is essential for maintaining health, but its abnormal metabolism can lead to disorders such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. It turns out that the key factor regulating this element (Ca) in the body is vitamin K2.Vitamin K2 MK-7 is responsible for the activation of MGP (Matrix GLA Protein) proteins, which transport calcium in the body. When MGP proteins are active, calcium is transported to the bone, if they are inactive, calcium is deposited in the blood vessels - veins, arteries causing atherosclerosis and heart disease.
