Chromium is a trace element, but it is important for the human body, affects the regulation of important biological functions. This mineral is distributed in tissues in extremely small and varied amounts. In our body, chromium is concentrated in the liver, spleen, soft tissues and bones. In total, the chromium content in the human body is determined to be less than 6 mg. As for its most important properties, chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal metabolism of macronutrients and helps to maintain normal blood glucose levels.

Ingredients: maltodextrin, capsule shell [glazing agent (hydroxypropylcellulose)], anti-caking agent (magnesium salts of fatty acids), 0,4 % chromium (chromium picolinate).

The product may contain: milk, soy, cereals containing gluten, fish and peanuts.

Usage: Take 1 capsule daily with plenty of water after a meal. The portion of the product recommended for consumption during the day is 1 capsule. Do not exceed the recommended portion for consumption during the day.

Chromium as an element of glucose tolerance factor, i.e. the share of chromium in glucose metabolism

What does that mean? Help in maintaining normal blood glucose levels is due to the fact that chromium participates in glucose metabolism. It is a component of the glucose tolerance factor (GTF), which is a biologically active substance produced in the body that affects the regulation of sugar metabolism. Chromium facilitates the binding of insulin to its receptor or enhances the effect of insulin on carbohydrate and lipid catabolism.

How is chromium absorption?

The estimated absorption of chromium, based on studies of metabolic balance or urinary excretion from physiological intake, ranges from 0,4 to 2,5%. There are studies where increased urinary chromium excretion has been found during aerobic exercise. Intense and prolonged resistance exercises can increase chromium absorption, which determines increased urinary chromium excretion. However, studies are still needed to clarify the extent to which the observed beneficial effects of exercise on glucose and insulin metabolism may be due to better chromium absorption.

What else do we know about chrome?

Chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal metabolism of macronutrients, i.e. it plays a role in the metabolism of carbohydrates, cholesterol, fats and proteins and in the formation of fatty acids. According to available scientific sources (e.g. Dróżdż-Afelt et al., 2019), chromium is a component of RNA and potentially participates in stabilizing its structure. Interesting information is that the amount of chromium in the human body decreases with age. Available scientific evidence indicates a significant age-related reduction in the amount of chromium in hair, sweat and urine.
