Betaine HCl Pepsin & Gentian Bitters by Doctor's Best is a supplement containing high-quality ingredients that support digestion. Betaine HCl, or betaine hydrochloride, is used as a supplement to natural gastric juices. It is a source of hydrochloric acid, which is produced by the body. Betaine HCl can lower the pH of the stomach, thus potentially supporting the absorption of nutrients from food, especially in the case of hydrochloric acid deficiencies in the body. Betaine also contributes to the maintenance of normal homocysteine metabolism. Pepsin, in turn, is a proteolytic enzyme that is responsible for digesting proteins.
The supplement has been enriched with Gorce root extract (Gentiana lutea). The properties of Yellow Bitterness root have been known and used for centuries by traditional herbalists to support digestion and alleviate gastrointestinal problems. Thanks to its bitter aftertaste, this plant stimulates the secretion of saliva and gastric juice.
