Aliness Vegan Omega-3 is a source of vegan and 100% natural omega-3 acids, in an affordable form of soft capsules, containing a patented formula of algae oil DHA Origins®.

Each Vegan Omega-3 capsule provides 250 mg of essential omega-3 fatty acids, in the form of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

Thanks to the use of tapioca capsules, the product Aliness Vegan Omega 3 is free from animal-derived ingredients. Therefore, it is an ideal source of DHA also for vegetarians and vegans.

What are omega-3 fatty acids?

OMEGA-3 acids are a common name for a group of compounds belonging to essential fatty acids (EFAs).

OMEGA-3s are...

NECESSARY – because unlike saturated fatty acids, our body is not able to produce them on its own, and they are needed at many levels of its functioning. Therefore, they must be supplied in adequate quantities in food.

UNSATURATED – which means that there is at least one double bond between carbon atoms in the carbon chain in the molecules of these acids. The ‘3’ suffix, on the other hand, means that the last such double bond is located at the third carbon atom from the end of the chain.

The three main OMEGA-3 fatty acids that play the most important role in healthy eating are:

OMEGA-3 or OMEGA-6?

Providing both omega-3 and omega-6 acids is very important for the proper functioning of the body. However, it is important to maintain their proper ratio in the diet. The optimal ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 is 1:4.

In the diet of Western societies (European or American), this balance is significantly shifted towards excessive consumption of omega 6 acids. This is because the main part of food are products of animal origin, in which saturated fatty acids predominate, as well as omega-6 acids. However, few fish and seafood and plant products (oils) are consumed, which are a natural richness of omega 3 acids.

The consequence of this style of nutrition is a disorder of the ratio of omega-3 to omega-6, which is 1:15 or even 1:20. The result of longer maintenance of such a state is the appearance of pro-inflammatory compounds in the body, formed from omega-6 acids.

So the point is not to eliminate from the diet neither one nor the other fatty acids, but to eat in a balanced way, providing both omega-3 and omega-6 acids in a proportion as close as possible to optimal. Due to the eating habits rooted in our culture, it is much harder to maintain an adequate supply of omega 3 than omega 6, which is why in many cases omega-3 supplementation is indicated.

DHA Origins® - unique among OMEGA-3 oils

The DHA Origins® oil contained in our product comes from a reputable European manufacturer specializing in algae cultivation and processing. It is obtained exclusively from sustainable crops in which algae are propagated in a closed circuit without having a negative impact on the environment. The entire production process – from algae cultivation to extraction – takes place in Europe.

DHA Origins® oil is produced by extraction from specially selected strains of microalgae Schizochytrium sp., naturally rich in DHA. The production process consists only in physical extraction and purification. The oil is not subjected to chemicals or any chemical processes, including recombinant fatty acid reactions, as is the case with many other highly concentrated sources of DHA available on the market. Triglycerides vs Esters

Omega fatty acids can be delivered to the body in various chemical forms – e.g. in free form, in the form of triglycerides or esters. Fatty acids, which are naturally found in food, are mostly found in the form of triglycerides, being part of fats and are present to a small extent as free fatty acids. The form of triglycerides is therefore a natural form of omega fatty acids.

On the market you can also find dietary supplements and medicinal products based on omega acids in the form of ethyl esters (esterified form). It is an artificial form of omega fatty acids, obtained by chemical synthesis, in which natural triglycerides are broken down into free fatty acids, and then through the chemical esterification process transform them into ethyl esters of appropriate fatty acids. Fatty acid esterification is a solution commonly used in pharmacy, mainly due to the possibility of obtaining raw material with strictly desirable and reproducible parameters, and consequently easier use in complex technological processes as well as easier to store.

However, in daily supplementation it is preferable to use forms of omega fatty acids in the form of triglycerides, which are a natural ingredient found in the same form in food and therefore best recognized and tolerated by the body.

Our omega acids are found exclusively in the natural form of triglycerides and are free from synthetically esterified forms. The oil is encapsulated in a protective atmosphere, which makes it easy to store the capsules at room temperature.
