Network switch

24-port Gigabit switch designed to distribute Ethernet traffic across local area networks. The device realizes basic frame switching on Layer 2 in store-and-forward mode, provides 24 RJ-45 ports compatible with 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds and is designed for applications in small and medium-sized network installations.

Ports and connectivity

Each port supports 10/100/1000 Mbps modes and IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u and IEEE 802.3ab standards; IEEE 802.3x compliant flow control mechanisms are available. The device works with 10BASE-TX, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-TX copper cabling and is compatible with cable categories from Cat3 to Cat6. Support for Jumbo frames up to 15000 bytes and an array of MAC addresses with up to 8000 entries affect the efficiency of work in denser networks.

Assembly and construction

The housing in black has been adapted for mounting in a 19-inch frame. The switch operates passively, without a fan, which translates into quiet operation and a limited number of moving parts. On the front panel there are LEDs indicating the status of the links, port activity and power supply, which makes it easier to observe the operation of the device during the operation of the installation.

Power supply and reliability

The device is powered from an alternating current network in the frequency range 50/60 Hz and has basic surge protection. Passive cooling and the applied design affect the simplicity of operation and limitation of mechanical components. In the technical description there is also a reference to the MTBF parameter informing about the expected average time between failures.

Working conditions

The switch is designed for internal installations. The nominal operating temperature range is 0-40 °C, while the storage temperature range is from -40 to 70 °C. The device should be operated in a dry, airy environment while maintaining the recommended temperature and humidity conditions. It does not support powering devices over Ethernet (PoE).
