Purpose

The DGS-1510-28P is a managed gigabit switch designed for business networks, enabling data transfer and powering of endpoint devices on local networks. The device combines the basic functions of the L2 layer with the extended capabilities of the L3 layer, which allows for efficient traffic segmentation and implementation of static routes.

Design and Ports

The 1U rack enclosure accommodates 24 PoE-enabled RJ‑45 1 Gbps ports and additional uplink ports: 2 1 Gbps SFP ports and 2 10 Gbps SFP+ ports. The design provides active cooling with two fans and a set of LED indicators to indicate power status, link, PoE and activity. The dimensions of the device facilitate installation in a standard RACK cabinet; the net weight is about 2,54 kg.

PoE efficiency and power supply

The switch offers a switching bandwidth of 92 Gbit/s and a forwarding speed of about 68,45 Mpps, which allows it to handle intense network traffic. The packet cache has a capacity of 1,5 MB, and the MAC address table holds about 16K entries. The DGS-1510-28P provides PoE power for RJ‑45 ports with a total budget of up to 193W, compliant with IEEE 802.3af/802.3at standards, allowing you to power cameras, access points and other network devices.

Network management and security

The device provides management interfaces including a graphical Web GUI, CLI command line and console port, as well as support for protocols and network mechanisms necessary to secure and control traffic (m.in. 802.1X, ACL, QoS). The switch supports static L3 routes and MSTP, VLAN 802.1Q functions with support for up to 4K VLAN groups, multicast functions and broadcast/storm control mechanisms.

Scalability and integration

The model allows physical stacking of up to 6 units, giving you the ability to expand your infrastructure and increase the number of available ports in your installation. The presence of 10 GbE SFP+ ports provides high-speed uplink connectivity between devices and integration with higher-bandwidth infrastructure. The switch is designed to operate in typical server room and air-conditioned network rooms, with an operating temperature range of -5 to 50 °C.
