Design with three dynamic transducers and acoustic crossover

Moondrop Harmon are hybrid in-ear monitors with three full-size 10mm drivers - one for midrange and treble and two for bass - combined with a patented four-chamber acoustic crossover system. Each transducer is housed in its own precisely designed chamber, allowing for clear phase alignment, extended frequency response, and low distortion. Backed by simulation-grade acoustic modeling and expert hand tuning, Harmon delivers deep-layer imaging, precise sound and dynamic control in an extremely compact form factor.

Three 10 mm transducers

Instead of laying fittings or mixing types of pickups, Harmon relies on three large 10-millimeter dynamic pickups - one for mids and highs, two for lows. Each transducer is housed in its own resonant cavity, precisely designed to handle a specific frequency band. The result is phase-coherent sound, rich harmonic mixing and consistent imaging.

Medium-high-pitch speaker with glass diaphragm

The mid-range speaker uses a one-micron thick glass dome in a flexible suspension system, which gives it a unique blend of stiffness and damping. This means less distortion, stronger dynamics and an extension of treble that does not become brittle or flashy. Its dual-magnet, three-conductor drive system drives the high-performance OFC voice coil for detailed playback.

Two bass drivers in the opposite system

The configuration of Moondrop bass drivers in the opposite system horizontally eliminates unwanted mechanical vibrations, while doubling the output power. Each 10mm transducer includes an internal N52 magnet, a lightweight CCAW coil, and a flexible membrane tuned for dynamic pulses. The result is clear, fast and compact bass even with dense compositions.

 

Four-chamber coaxial crossover design

Harmon's heart is a four-chamber frequency crossover system. Rather than relying solely on electronic filters, Harmon’s tuning relies on acoustic cavity design and pathway to separate and shape band frequencies. This crossover strategy offers control over phase alignment, minimizing blur, as well as helping all three drivers work together properly.

 

VDSF target tuning and real-world improvement

The purpose of VDSF Moondrop tuning is based on B&K HRTF data. Harmon achieves it with impressive accuracy - and then goes a step further with subjective tuning to match the feedback to the real ear and listener preferences. This ensures realistic imaging, smooth tone, and tonal balance that works well in a variety of musical genres.

Full-range phase consistency

Phase alignment becomes more difficult when more transducers are added. However, thanks to the coaxial architecture and the design of the physical crossover, Harmon maintains the phase in full bandwidth with high consistency. This means better imaging, more realistic transients, and less fatigue during long listening sessions.

Very low distortion across the entire frequency range

Even under pressure, Harmon remains sonically clear. At 94 dB SPL, total harmonic distortion across the entire frequency range remains below 0,1% - at a level that most multitransducer IEMs cannot match.

Wrapped cable, dual plug system

Harmon comes with a high quality braided cable and 3,5 mm single-ended and 4,4 mm balanced plugs. The connectors are easy to replace - simply set the arrow pointers and adjust the output source without changing cables or adapters.
