Optium Xido glucose measuring strips are designed for people who want to have control over their sugar levels – comfortably at home. Thanks to modern biosensory technology (a method that uses chemical reactions to measure sugar), a very small blood sample — only 0,6 µl — is enough to quickly see a reliable result on the Optium Xido blood glucose meter.

How Optium Xido strips work

Each strip has a special zone with an enzyme (glucose dehydrogenase) and other components that trigger a reaction after blood administration. It is an enzymatic reaction — it means that the enzyme “recognizes” glucose and converts it into an electrical signal. The Optium Xido glucose meter reads this signal and shows your sugar levels in seconds.

Compatibility of the glucose meter

The strips are designed exclusively for the Optium Xido glucose meter – together they form a coherent set for daily measurement of capillary blood sugar (i.e. the one taken from the fingertip). Use with other devices or with other types of material (e.g. plasma, serum) can lead to incorrect measurements.

Step by step instructions

• Wash and dry your hands – this is important for the reliability of the measurement.
• Remove one strip from the foil packaging just before use.
• Insert the strap into the Optium Xido glucose meter socket — the device will turn itself on.
• Gently the pad and apply 0,6 µl of blood to the belt.
• If the glucose meter shows that the sample is too small, add a drop within 5 seconds.
• After a few seconds, read the result and discard the used strip as medical waste.

Safety and hygiene

• The straps are for external use only and for one person
• Do not use preservatives with fluoride
• Do not use with plasma or serum
• After use, discard the strap in the medical waste container
• Do not use strips after the expiry date or 6 months after opening the vial

Storage conditions and durability

Store the strips in the original sealed vial at 4 to 30 °C. Protect them from the sun and heat sources. After opening the vial, try to use the strips within 6 months and ensure that the storage area is dry and clean.
