ECE R129 (i-Size) approval is the latest safety requirement for car seats. It replaced the older ECE R44/04 approval.

In the i-size regulation, there are a number of protective criteria that the seat must meet to guarantee safety against side impacts. They are supposed to protect the child travelling in the seat from exposure to injuries to the cervical vertebrae and head, which are subjected to a very strong with sudden braking.
