In its day, the original Monarch and Monarch MKII models set new standards for best-in-class performance in the global IEM industry. Not only has this redefined the price-performance ratio, but it has forever changed the way IEM vendors design and tune IEMs. Going with the times, Monarch underwent another revision to improve its technical and tonal parameters.

Improved Ultra-Treble output

The Monarch MKIII has been updated with Sonion’s latest electrostatic transducers (ESTs) and re-tuned to better expose the full potential of these transducers. With our new tuning strategy, ultra-high frequencies from +15 kHz to 20 kHz have been increased for a more versatile extension of higher frequencies. Compared to its predecessor, the Monarch MKIII will be characterized by a greater sense of staging, atmosphere and an overall improvement in perceived resolution thanks to the extension of treble.

Sustainable tonal signature

At the heart of the Monarch MKIII is THIEAUDIO’s commitment to sound excellence. The Monarch MKIII retains a tone signature resembling a studio monitor with a focused subbass effect for clear, natural and detailed sound. Designed using a true 4-way crossover with 9 separate passive elements, the Monarch MKIII remains true to its tonal heritage. Thanks to IMPACT2, the subbass is stronger, but midrange tones from 200 Hz to 800 Hz retain their flat neutrality. This midrange tone mimics the true sound of studio monitors used in recording studios to ensure faithful sound reproduction.

Moreover, compared to its predecessors, the Monarch MKIII midrange speakers have been upgraded with a new tuning strategy that better separates the corresponding transducer ranges to maximize power output while minimizing total harmonic distortion. This means that the midrange tones in MKIII will sound at a higher resolution while maintaining the same monitor tone. The treble has also been somewhat tuned to provide greater cohesion across the region, as well as a bit more clarity and definition. This small tonal modification combines better with the renewed ultra-high tone response for a clearer sound.
