The English-language abbreviation BCAA (Branched Chain Amino Acids) refers to three essential amino acids: L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine. These amino acids are commonly called branched chain amino acids, because they are the only protein-building proteogenic amino acids characterized by branched carbon chains.
