SIMPLE AND FUNCTIONAL SWITCH POE+ LANBERG

The PoE+ switch is an indispensable device active in any network structure, using power transmission through structured cabling. RSFE-24P-2C-250 is dedicated to all installations: home, company, low-current, monitoring, IP, VoIP, cable TV networks, and in particular will be used in alarm, fire and access control infrastructure.

In addition to the original function of the switch, i.e. support for Ethernet frame movement between ports, additionally provides power to each device in the PoE/PoE+ standard – 802.3af and at. This enables the supply of power to devices in total up to 250 W. And all this together with simultaneous data transmission to them.

This saves resources, space and time that should be spent on the installation of a separate electrical and network installation. This is particularly important if the network is distributed and its end devices do not have access to a power source, especially when mounted outdoors.

NO COMPROMISE SOLUTION - REAL POE BUDGET: 250W

Switch is equipped with a total of 28 ports, including 24 PoE+ (Fast Ethernet) and 2 Uplink (Combo Gigabit) ports. Thoughtful design and attention to the quality of components provides the user with up to 250 W of total real power for end devices, which means the possibility of connecting simultaneously:

• 16 IEEE 802.3af devices (max. 15 W per port)
• 8 IEEE 802.3at devices (max. 30 W per port)

The remaining 2 ports (Uplink) are dedicated to the exchange of data traffic between 24 PoE+ ports and external devices. In the case of monitoring/control systems, this is particularly useful because it allows the user to rip the recording from the cameras to the recorder while sharing the stream further (on the second port), e.g. on the local network or on the Internet.

INTELLIGENT FUNCTION TO DISCONNECT POE PORTS

It is not always clear how the switch will behave when the available PoE budget is exceeded. There are several options: a port that exceeds the budget or random or the latest connected will be disconnected. In the last case, what will be their order after the power outage and its restoration when they are all simultaneously plugged into the switch?

Lanberg in the RS series switches has introduced innovative solutions that, through the simplicity of the principle of operation, eliminates any doubts as to the mechanics of port operation.

When the PoE budget is exceeded (e.g. through the device connected to port 1), the switch will start disconnecting PoE ports starting from the highest numbering until the sum of loads does not exceed the available budget; while keeping the operation of the remaining ports intact. Those that are disconnected will remain in this state until the PoE load decreases.

The function is primarily dedicated to demanding applications that emphasize safety and continuity of operation, where some devices must operate continuously regardless of the situation. In such cases, Lanberg switches will allow the user to secure critical devices by connecting them to the lowest port numbering.

EXTENSION MODE UP TO 250 METERS

Standard switches according to the standard provide the ability to operate devices at a distance of up to 100 m on one section of the cable. However, sometimes it turns out that due to the extensive network backbone and complex environment, a custom solution that goes beyond the standard is required when developing cabling and networks. In the case of monitoring solutions, this is a fairly common problem, most often resulting from too long distance between the distribution device and the end device.

The Lanberg switches have a function that allows data transmission (max. 10 Mb/s) and PoE+ power supply up to 250 m on one section of the cable. Simply switch the button to the “PoE+ Extend 250 m” position on the housing to ensure operation over a longer distance for ports 1 ~ 16.

The solution was introduced for monitoring and IP systems as well as access control, especially if the terminal devices are located outside without the possibility of installing additional network distribution points.

4 kV SURGE PROTECTION

The switch itself, as well as the devices connected to it, are repeatedly exposed to various threats, including current discharges, which can flow through both power and network cables.

Bearing in mind the safety of devices as well as their users, Lanberg equipped the switch with an integrated anti-discharge protection system, guaranteeing 4 kV protection for all ports, effectively reducing their damage due to a sharp increase in voltage.

Under standard conditions, network operation will continue without interruptions, the switch will continue to work without any interruptions, and the user gains the security of the device and infrastructure.

MOUNTING KIT INCLUDED - EARS UP TO 19"

The RS series of switches is characterized not only by the quality of workmanship, simplicity of use, functionality of the device, but also complementarity in terms of assembly and accessories supplied where possible.

Lanberg has introduced a set of accessories for the versatile installation of its switches. The RSFE-16P-2C-250 provides mounting ears for 19” cabinets and a set of mounting screws (except M6). This allows for wider use and greater freedom of installation of the RS series switches.
