Until recently, the market, with the exception of the server segment, was not particularly interested in the 2.5GBASE-T, 5GBASE-T and 10GBASE-T standards. This was due to the fact that Gigabit Ethernet was successfully sufficient for most home and office applications, and network cards compliant with the new standards were simply very expensive. Their price often exceeded PLN 1,000.

The approach of users began to change when the Wi-Fi 6 standard (IEEE 802.11ax) appeared on the market. This wireless standard allows transmission at speeds up to 9,6 Gbps (in Wi-Fi 5 it is 6,9 Gbps). Such high transmission speed enables i.a. Simultaneous streaming of several movies or videos (e.g. from CCTV camera) in 4K and even 8K resolution. This data must be received or sent to or from the access point. Gigabit networking is too slow and becomes a bottleneck compared to wireless networking.

Because fiber optic solutions are too expensive, users have become interested in the 2.5GBASE-T standards, which uses Lan CAT 5 and 6 cables.

If your LAN is running at a maximum speed of 1Gbps (1000Mbps), the card will reach a maximum network persistance of 1Gbps. To exploit the potential of the card, a 2,5G/5G/10Gbps network is required.
