The 4vets Hepatic veterinary diet is a complete specialized food for dogs suffering from liver failure and other liver diseases. Limited supply of high-quality protein has a positive effect on liver function and hepatocyte regeneration and prevents the loss of muscle tissue. Highly digestible carbohydrates contained in the diet are a non-protein source of energy, the metabolism of which does not lead to the formation of toxic protein transformation products.

The basic dietary procedure for both acute and chronic liver failure is an easily digestible diet with fat restriction. The diet should contain an adequate amount of protein with a high digestibility rate. Providing the right amount of nutrients will help maintain a high nutritional status of the body. It is also important to increase the frequency of diet, but in smaller portions. Due to the natural tendency to accumulate copper in the metabolically inefficient liver, the diet of livers a should be deficient in this element.

4) Milk thistle – contains silymarin, which has a positive effect on the liver – detoxifies, stabilizes and seals the membranes of hepatocytes. In addition, it supports the self-healing of liver cells.

5) Chicory inulin – as a natural prebiotic affects the stabilization of the intestinal microflora and positively affects the maintenance of proper digestion and absorption of nutrients.

6) Dried beer yeast (source of prebiotics: mannanooligosaccharides and β-glucans) – have a beneficial effect on the intestinal bacterial flora. Yeast has a high biological value also due to the high content of B vitamins. The use of yeast in the nutrition of young dogs is particularly important because it stimulates a wide range of immune responses.

7) Jukka Mojave – the presence of this ingredient stimulates digestive functions, absorption of nutrients from the digestive tract and regulates its peristalsis. Added to the diet reduces the production of intestinal gases and the intensity of feces odor. In addition, yucca Mojave saponins have antibacterial activity that suppresses protozoan infections formed in the intestines, and polyphenols have anti-inflammatory properties.
