Purpose

TP-Link Omada SG2008 is a managed L2/L2+ network switch with eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 ports, designed for wired connections in small and medium LANs. It enables traffic segregation, connection centralization, and the implementation of QoS and VLAN policies essential for offices, points of sale, and service networks.

Performance and Throughput

The device offers a maximum switching capacity of 16 Gbps and a forwarding rate of approximately 11.9 Mpps, allowing simultaneous handling of traffic from multiple devices without significant bottlenecks. The MAC address table supports up to 8000 entries, the packet buffer has a capacity of 4.1 MB, and support for Jumbo Frames up to 9000 bytes improves performance for large data block transfers.

Management and Security

The SG2008 provides management features typical of managed switches: support for SNMPv1/v2c/v3 and SNTP protocols, and secure remote communication via SSH/SSH-2 and SSL/TLS. The device includes traffic control and security functions such as DHCP snooping, DHCP relay, and filtering with encrypted administrative sessions, facilitating centralized network monitoring and security.

Network and VLAN Features

The switch supports IEEE 802.1Q, 802.1p, and 802.1s standards, as well as 802.3ad (LACP) and 802.3x flow control, enabling traffic prioritization and link redundancy.
