Barum is a brand of tyres of Czech origin. The history of Barum tyres begins in 1932, when the famous Bata shoe factories, looking for new areas of production, undertook the production of tires. In 1945, three leading Czechoslovak tyre companies (Bata, Rubena, Mitas) merged and a new state-owned company Barum was founded, and the Bata family lost control of the company.

In 1992, the company signed an agreement with Continental, under which in 1993 the Barum brand became part of the group and the new Barum Continental s.r.o. had ambitions to become the largest tyre manufacturer in Europe. Since then, the number of tyres produced (6 million units) has been growing dynamically - in 2002 it was already 15 million units and in 2018 it amounted to over 21 million units. The plant in Otrokovice is one of the most modern tyre factories in Europe.
