The PLANET MGSW-28240F L3 24-Port 100/1000BASE-X SFP+ 4-Port 10G SFP+ Metro Ethernet Switch is specifically designed for service providers and enterprises to provide high-speed networking over longer distances. Its SFP+ and SFP fiber ports can be connected to a variety of fiber optic and Ethernet cables to extend switching functionality across the network. The MGSW-28240F is capable of providing a non-blocking switch structure and bandwidth of up to 158Gbps in the temperature range of -10 to 60 degrees C without packet loss and cyclic redundancy control (CRC) errors. This greatly simplifies the task of upgrading an enterprise LAN to meet the growing demand for bandwidth.

Flexible and extensible fiber-optic Ethernet solution

10G Ethernet is a big leap in the evolution of Ethernet. Each of the 10G SFP+ ports on the MGSW-28240F supports triple speed SFP transceivers, 10GBASE-SR/LR, 2500BASE-X and 1000BASE-SX/LX. With the ability to support 4 ports, 10Gb/s and up to 24 ports of 1Gb/s/2,5Gb/s fiber Ethernet, an administrator can now flexibly select the appropriate SFP and SFP+ transceivers depending on the transmission distance or transmission speed required for efficient network expansion. The MGSW-28240F provides wide bandwidth and powerful processing capacity.

Interface design with front access

The Metro Ethernet switch features a user-friendly design with front-end access to help technicians increase wiring and installation efficiency, while in traditional design, the power socket, console port, and even some expansion modules were always placed on the back of the product. When technicians install or maintain an older switch model in a rack, they need to watch out for other surrounding devices online because the back of the product cannot be seen clearly. With a front-access design, technicians can avoid clutter with other nearby devices.

Support for Layer 3 routing

The MGSW-28240F enables an administrator to conveniently increase network performance by manually configuring IPv4/IPv6 VLAN Layer 3 static routing and OSPFv2 (Open Shortest Path First) automatic IPv4 settings. OSPF is an internal dynamic routing protocol for a standalone system based on the state of the link. The protocol creates a link state database by exchanging link states between Layer 3 switches and then uses the Shortest Path First algorithm to generate a route table based on that database.

The MGSW-28240F is equipped with advanced cybersecurity protections to counter threats and cyber attacks. It supports SSHv2, TLSv1.2 and SNMPv3 protocols, providing strong protection against advanced threats. The MGSW-28240F switch cybersecurity feature serves as a key data transmission point for critical customer devices in the business network, protecting switch management and increasing mission-critical network security without the additional cost and effort of implementation.

Redundant ring, fast recovery for critical network applications

The MGSW-28240F switch supports redundant ring technology and features a strong, fast self-healing function to prevent interruptions and intrusions from outside. It includes advanced ITU-T G.8032 ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) technology, spanning tree protocol (802.1s MSTP) and redundant power system in customer industrial automation network to increase system reliability and uptime in harsh factory conditions. In a simple Ring network, the data link restore time can be as long as 10 ms.

Redundant AC and DC power supply for continuity of operation

The MGSW-28240F features a 100~240V AC power supply and a dual 36~60V DC power supply used as a redundant power source to ensure its continuous operation. Its redundant power system is specifically designed to meet the demands of high-tech facilities that require the highest power integrity. Moreover, with 36~60V DC power supply implemented, MGSW-28240F can be used as a telecommunication device and placed in almost any harsh environment.

Digital input and digital output for external alarm

The digital input can be used to detect and record the status of external devices, such as a door intrusion sensor. • Text management can be accessed through Telnet and the console port. It offers Cisco-like commands so users don't have to learn new commands from these switches.
• For standards-based monitoring and management software, the device offers an SNMPv3 connection that encrypts packet contents during each session to ensure secure remote management.
