PRO-VET® Struvite was developed for adult cats with struvite stones. PRO-VET® Struvite will dissolve crystals and stones in the bladder and prevent symptoms from returning.

PRO-VET® Struvite provides enough nutrients to keep your body in good condition. The development of crystals and stones containing struvite in the bladder is a common condition in cats. Crystals and struvite stones can cause obstruction of the urethra, so that the cat can not properly urinate. Urination will be painful, and the accumulation of metabolic products in the body can lead to coma and death. About 10% of cats reporting to veterinarians have urinary tract disease caused by struvite. Nutrition plays an important role in the treatment of cats with struvite. The diet is aimed at reducing the concentrations of components of struvite (magnesium, ammonium, phosphate) in the urine and lowering the pH of urine so that the struvite dissolves and new crystals cannot form.

Dissolving existing struvite crystals and stones in the bladder and preventing struvite formation is possible only at low urinary pH and low concentrations of struvite components.

PRO-VET® Struvite consists of magnesium, ammonium and phosphate and dissolves or does not form at a urine pH lower than 6.

PRO-VET® Struvite contains an adequate amount of urine acidifier, so that the average urine pH is 5,9. This pH has an anti-struvite effect and does not carry the risk of acidosis. Low levels of magnesium, phosphate and protein additionally stimulate the dissolution of struvite and inhibit its formation. Thus, PRO-VET® Struvite can be used by patients with non-obstructive struvite stones, as well as by patients sensitive to relapse of struvite formation.
