I do not recommend an aluminum seat, but lower quality plywood will crack when the boat jumps on a wave (personal experience from one of the trips). Some manufacturers reduce the diameter of the sides, e.g. for a 320cm long pontoon they use 36mm sides, then there is a visible reduction in displacement, load capacity and engine size. You can roughly judge the quality of a pontoon by its weight. A good pontoon with a full floor must weigh approx. 18 kilograms per meter of length, but this is a simplification.
