How to choose an inner tube for the size of tires?
Example for 12"/16"/18"/20"/24"/26"/27,5"/29" tyres:
It's very simple, we have e.g. 26 x 1,90 tyre. The number 26 tells us the diameter of the wheel in inches. The second value is the width of the tire. Tubes always have a given width range, e.g. 26 x 1,75-2,10 so the inner tube will fit tires with a width of 1,75 to 2,10. Our tyre has a size of 26 x 1,90 in the range of 1,75-2,10, so the inner tube is suitable.
27"/28" tyres always have two types of marking:
- e.g. 700x35c (28 x 1 3/8") with 35 indicating tyre width (occurring from 18c to 45c)
- e.g. 37-622 (28") or 32-630 (27") in the same way as in the first case, the two-digit number means the width of the tyre and its 3-digit diameter. The 27 and 28 tyres fit the same inner tubes
Tubes always have a range to which tires they fit, for example:
- inner tube size 28 x 1 3/8" 700x18-25 so inner tube fits tire: 700x18c, 700x20c ... 700x25c
- inner tube size 28 x 1 3/8" 700x35-43 inner tube fits tire: 700x35c, 700x38c ... 700x43c
When buying inner tubes, you should remember one more important thing, namely the type of valve.
We can distinguish 3 types of valves:
- AV vent (car)
- DV vent (bicycle)
